Ask HN: Command line apps running as normal standalone apps

I really love to have a way to make terminal app running as if they where running standalone mostly so I could "cmd+Tab" to activate a window in a specific app instead of bringing to front a bunch of different things that I don't need.

Am I alone in this? Is there anyone aware of ways to make this happen?
