I actually deleted my Patreon account yesterday for the same reason. I was supporting Sam Harris through Patreon, but I immediatly set up a direct feed with paypal, takes two minutes. And I hope others will do the same.
Also Jordan Peterson who is another of their promenient users mentioned that he is working on an alternative solution to Patreon.
