Ask HN: Unusual ergonomic desk/chair arrangements that work?

1 points by nous ↗ HN
I, like many others, have long struggled to find a desk and chair arrangement that works. Expensive, top-of-the-line desks don't cut it for me, as they all still result in back, neck, and elbow pain (even with the best ergonomic hygiene). Nor do things like standing desks or treadmills do the trick.

But today, while laying fully back at the dentist's office, staring at the flat-screen television attached to the ceiling, I got to thinking. Maybe an unusual desk arrangement like this could work?

And so I'm wondering whether anyone has had any luck with a desk setup like this that doesn't resemble any of the standard solutions.

I vaguely recall someone wondering aloud here at HN, around the time of the world cup, whether anyone has ever used a race-car chair as their desk chair. That's another example of an unusual solution of which I'm interested.

How about it? Any luck with unusual desk and chair arrangements?
