Ask HN: What should software developers expect when moving to product management

Recently, I was approached by a senior person in product management org who has offered me to become a product manager. I have been a developer for a little more than a decade, and have practically no experience being a product manager. What unsaid things should I expect from the role? What does it take to be a successful product manager which a typical developer has little experience with? How is the scope of product managers in the industry?
