To be honest, I thought this was going to be far more interesting (and actually relevant to FPGAs) than it is. FPGA companies are VERY backwards, but this is just basic stuff. They want to protect their brand. This isn't saying that you can't talk about Xilinx or you can't talk about Xilinx and Intel/Altera. It's saying that you can't use their LOGO.
This isn't Xilinx trying to shut down discussion, this isn't about X trying to take down criticism. This is about Xilinx protecting their Trademark that you aren't allowed to use - and it's important, because they actually have people who pay them money to use that logo.
