Ask HN: How to find a prioritization coach for software engineers

2 points by afarrell ↗ HN
Hi folks,

I’m a software engineer in London who’s been out of uni for 6.5 years now. I never learned how to prioritize my time. When I have a day with multiple things I could possibly focus on, I either ask my tech lead, ask my wife, pick based on deadline, or pick at random in order to avoid sitting there for an hour being indecisive. I’m trying to take on project-leadership role and I think part of this is going to require being able to think about prioritization without feeling overwhelmed or having an emotional breakdown.

I would like to learn how to confidently decide how to prioritize a list of 6-10 tasks. How can I find a coach or therapist whom I can pay to give me mental/emotional/technical skills to do this?

This person would probably also need to understand the difficulty (impossibility?) of estimating software tasks and be able to coach me through or around that.

I’m an American based in London, so probably looking for someone who can videochat from the US after 6pm GMT.
