Ask HN: A girlfriend, no job, 1 month left

12 points by spIrr ↗ HN
Hello dear HN community. I'm posting this trough my newly-created id, because it is a kind of personal thing i wouldn't like to be associated with my other activity here.

So, here is the input: i am a student (not CS but Economics), living in some cheap European country (better to say, eastern european) and having a girlfriend (whohoo). Unfortunately, the best part of this statement for me is giving me some headache recently. My girlfriend has moved to another country to do her semester abroad and i still have to stay here.

As you may have noticed, Christmas and NY2011 is approaching very fast and i would really love to see her by this time — she IS the one. As being highly concentrated on my studies, i 'forgot' to think about financing my 'other life'. As a result, i don't have to much budget left to finance my trip to her and stay with her for the holidays.

This is a very frustrating situation for me, and i would love to change the way it is. Better to say, i am in need of a gig which would give me $300-400 in less than a month. You may ask what i am doing here if i am an student of economics, but i can also do development tasks for the web (i.e. smaller PHP, HTML&CSS etc.).

I would really appreciate if someone could offer me the possibility to finance my holidays with my girlfriend as an output of this Ask or to give me a hint about how to make this even possible given the input situation.

Please HN, you are my last hope. Thank you!

Not sure what the wage scale is in your country. In the US, you can make $400 by working for something like McDonalds for 40 hours.
Also a lot of universities have "student job services" where you can find daily jobs - like helping with a move or something. I don't think McDonalds employs people for just 40 hours?

If there is no such student job market yet in your city, start one - I would be interested to help.

You could probably do a few odd jobs on RentACoder, Elane or something similar. Don't have much experience with them.

Do you happen to have any experience with Facebook Applications? I'm looking to outsource a small Facebook App, if you have any experience there feel free to drop me an email (edanm@btlms.com).
