Ask HN: Got a product, now what?
Hey all, long-time reader here excited for my first post! Through some travels, I ended up with a pair of flip flops made in Malawi (super poor african country) from recycled tire treads. Been wearing them for years and getting compliments, so figured other people might want a pair. I know locals back in Malawi who want to make/sell them, so I put up a simple website to get the ball rolling: https://tread.ventures/
Any advice on what to do next? Figured I'd reach out for feedback, do a round of changes, and start putting ads out there to see what customer acquisition cost looks like and what pricing makes sense. Would love to hear from the super-entrepreneurs on here if this is a reasonable plan. And in general, would love to get feedback on the product and website too. Thanks so much HN!

[ 2.2 ms ] story [ 7.4 ms ] threadCreate stories around your product, just like how you posted in here because people believe stories and they hate direct selling. Don't ever talk about direct selling but always create content around it.
I just did a small analysis, looks like Malawi people mostly like Facebook and Pinterest (http://gs.statcounter.com/social-media-stats/all/malawi) and I suggest you to be on Pinterest too, I believe that visual content can do good for your website. I also suggest you go to small marketplaces and ask people their suggestions about your product.
This product is for general public so go out there on the ground and get feedbacks. Also, take videos of people who give you good reviews, you might post them on your channel or website.
Hope this helps:)
