Ask HN: How did you decide b/w bootstrapping slowly and looking for VC money?

I've been working on a side-project for the past 1.5 years on nights and evenings. It solves a real problem with a large market potential.

I had a successful paid pilot and the customer was ecstatic and I got another wannabe customer (didn't work out for other reasons).

I need help, though. The product needs help and there's ways to go until it's ready to fully hit the market.

Should I keep trying to grow organically? Or should I more seriously try to get a much-needed growth-spurt to try to dominate the vacuum I see in the market.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to have this quandary, so I'd love to hear other people's experiences.
