Ask HN: Why do email clients display bogus addresses?
Just about everyday my Hotmail account receives phishing e-mails coming from addresses that looks like the following:
"support@apple.com" <noreplymail-accountidnumber93498@connectthingsdone.com>
I don't understand how that could get through the spam filter. It's so obvious. Even if one wish to avoid false positives, it'd seem reasonable to not show the name portion when it resembles an e-mail address.
