Ask HN: How to find supplemental/short term freelance work?

I am currently looking for a new job and figured since I have so much downtime, I might as well do a couple of freelance jobs. Since this isn't a direction I'm looking at taking my career right now, is there a different or better way of getting a couple of jobs than then longterm advice that is common on the internet for getting started in freelance?

If it makes any difference, my expertize is in web development. LEMP/Laravel mostly, with a smattering of the cottage village of technologies that supports LEMP.
