Ask HN: How to Put Things Together?
Feeling frustrated while learning. I can write programs for textbook exercises, follow courses, understand code, and solve interview questions (given enough time). I can get around with the command line and git. But I can't build. Whenever i start on a project idea I end up unsatisfied with how far I get.
There's just so many tools out there and I get frustrated because it seems every tool is important. Each day I learn of 5 other new tools/technologies/frameworks when I'm not even done with the last one I was on. On top of that it takes time to get really good with one thing.
Is there a good website/book/tutorial/catalog that gives a high level overview of how things are related to each other? Which one is more important to learn first?
How to make sure I'm spending my time efficiently? Do you have any advice or resources for making better decisions while being overloaded with choices?
