Ask HN: Natural light or simulated natural light for work-at-home folks?

2 points by akulbe ↗ HN
I work from home 100% of the time now, and I'm wondering about how to get more good light in the room that serves as my home office.

My house is situated in a subdivision, with what I'm guessing is a 12-15' gap between our house and our neighbor. That gap is oriented almost due east/west.

I get some sunlight in the morning hours, but not a lot. There's no skylight, either.

I have some questions about what is best in terms of good health, and getting enough light.

Are bright lights/lamps what you'd need?

How good is the artificial light compared to the sun?

We also don't get a ton of sun here in Oregon, either... so there's that.

Anyone more scientific than me (it doesn't take much!) that can help answer my questions and get set up the best way possible?

Thank you in advance!
