The title here appears to be a substantial mischaracterization of the actual article; a gay male character in a Norwegian series being flipped to female in the US version could be the result of any number of artistic choices.
I watched the original and so far it's as close as it could come barring obvious cultural differences.
Sure, but your title sounds rather hyperbolic if based solely on this singular character change. There are dozens of examples of popular gay male characters in American television to refute that claim.

Now if this were China, for example, where Bohemian Rhapsody recently had all references to homosexuality stripped for the Chinese release, your title might be appropriate.
