Ask HN: Exercise Periodically at/during Work

1 points by alfredallan2 ↗ HN
There is this recent trend about staying active throughout the working day - by taking little walks, treadmill desks, etc. Unlike many trends, this one is probably a good thing.

I wonder if anybody actually does exercise at regular intervals during the working day. On work from home days, I often find it very useful to just do some pullups or pushups every couple hours throughout the day. 1) spreading out one's exercise sets throughout the day has benefits of its own, 2) it is a very good way to stay active - basically 10 minutes of good-form pushups/pullups/dips will make most people tired and they can sit quietly and just use their heads/fingers as they recover for a couple hours and then do it again. It doesn't require any real "equipment" either - use the floor for pushups and a $20 pullup bar.

Of course there are drawbacks, but overall I feel they outweighed by the significant benefits of it.

Thoughts?
