All these polluted rivers and ponds and trash on the side of the road and we still have people who can't find jobs. Better for the environment and less unemployment. It's a win-win.
Probably because it's a public works project, and there are few things as offensive to conservatives as the government spending money. Especially for environmental purposes.
Disagree. This has been proposed multiple times by conservatives. As part of receiving unemployment benefits, the recipient would have to perform X hours of community service.
So getting free labor in exchange for an existing public service, while denying unemployed people the opportunity to spend their time getting education or training, or searching for real jobs. I'd say that still fits in with my original assessment.
