[–] LogicHoleFlaw 18y ago ↗ Google's moving from Perforce to Git? I dare say Git has won the DCVS war. [–] andreyf 18y ago ↗ I don't think Perforce is an option for this code, as it's being made public. I didn't see the article say anything about changing their internal CVS. [–] LogicHoleFlaw 18y ago ↗ Ah, good point. I should have specified "open-source DCVS war." [–] jrockway 18y ago ↗ FWIW, Perl has been in Perforce forever, and it's an open source project. But Perforce sucks, so it's being migrated to Git. [–] j2d2 18y ago ↗ Interesting. Linus is the new Larry. [–] jrockway 18y ago ↗ Actually, I misused the word "forever" to mean "a long time". Larry isn't really involved with Perl 5 anymore, though, so any conversion to Git was not his idea. [–] bbb 18y ago ↗ Not all of Google (yet), but there has been some significant lobbying for the use of git inside Google in the past by Linus himself.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XpnKHJAok8 (Google Tech Talk)If you want to learn more about git and the motivation behind it, then I really recommend watching the linked video. I find it quite entertaining. [–] ComputerGuru 18y ago ↗ Yeah, because Linus is really impartial on the matter ;-)
