Ask HN: Can a self-taught developer make a less suck website? (distractmefrom.com)

I got laid off more than a year ago. I decided to in another direction, and picked up the PHP cookbook, and the Definitive Guide to \(.)*\ from my local library. I was unemployed and had time. So I designed, and developed my first website (www.distractmefrom.com), believing Web 2.0 was a hot sector, which would make it easier to be gainfully employed.

The problem is that I don't know if my site is good, or not, since I've never worked in the field--I'm a hobbyist--so I don't have a large tech network to solicit advice.

So I'll leave up to you guys. Do you think my site could get angel funding? And if you're from google, reading this, please hire me.
