Ask HN: Would you work in the Oil and Gas industry?

I've received a job offer from a company that serves the oil and gas industry by helping to streamline the planning and construction of off-shore platforms.

In the 10e3 time-scale, it's obviously not healthy for us to pollute our planet & destroy the species around us.

Oil (and the money it can be sold for) seems to be at the heart of a lot of conflict on the planet.

But that's not the only side of the story... we use petroleum for all sorts of seemingly non-harmful purposes.

So... could you wake up for a job in Oil & Gas?
