If I only read the title, I would think the vatican had come a long way.
In a way it has, but only in a way. Though this is not an open figure, insiders estimate 80% are gay in Vatican and orgies and underage prostitutes (poor male African immigrants) are brought inside the Vatican for debauchery. The problem is not the gay lifestyle but the abuse that many children suffer at the hands of the clerics.

Apparently stems from the involuntary celibacy policy in Catholicism. Vatican is nothing holy, it's just people with their problems, corruption, pettiness.. IMHO i see no possibility for any kind of reform.

An avian Berg Katse! (Bird Katse?)
I thought this was going to be a story about a very unusual catholic priest.

"The cardinal's right side appears to be male...while the left side seems to be female."

As a cardinal lover, what an interesting looking bird!

It seems on chrome you can refresh the page then immediately hit stop to read the article fine without subscription overlay.
Saw the title and thought this was about a priest.
A priest, man and woman walk into an Erie Pennsylvania backyard. Nope, not seeing the joke there.
Damn, tried to edit my post, and it locked me out in less than a minute. Can we maybe get at least 5 minutes to edit a post before they lock to editing?
You normally get a full two hours to edit a comment.
Wasn't this just submitted... yesterday? Under the original title?

This text lifted from the subhed is oddly understated. "A cardinal that's half male, half female" is the piece's actual headline, easier to understand, and completely accurate.

Yes, but the word cardinal was triggering a bunch of lame responses, so we changed it to make it less baity.
This would, of course, be far bore interesting if it was the clerical sort of cardinal.

Both due to the church political implications, and due to the fact that this sort of thing is rarer in mammals.

The idea of a man spending 2 years visiting a retired lady’s suburban backyard bird feeder to study a bird, which then had to end because another bird showed up and took over the territory, is amusing to me.

Some people have unusual/interesting jobs.
