I’m not on Facebook, but I do live in Central Texas. (Alex Jones lives down the road from me.) I hear a lot of far-right propaganda; I deal with with a lot of far-left liberal bullshit — the holier-than-thou/you can’t empathize-with-my-situation-whinging. The liberal stuff isn’t propaganda in the same way as the far-right stuff. The far-right message is toxic, destructive, hateful, and (ultimately) destructive; in particular, I find it (right-wingism?) to be virulently anti-American — even as its proponents vigorously wave the flag.
The left are obnoxious, but at least they are recognizably American.
Now... what is it you mean by “far-left propaganda”? What does that look like? What are they espousing? Mind you, I’m right-of-center compared to East/West coasters, so I’m asking this in honest confusion...
I see people being attacked to - the point of destroying their life - for denouncing far left propaganda though. At least you can denounce far right propaganda without the fear of repercussions.
Let's look at the BLM movement. Just showing the fact that a white person is twice more likely to be shot by the police [1] per violent crime committed [2], is of course a sure way to get their public life destroyed, no matter if it is the truth according to all factual data.
Can you point me to these people who have had their "life destroyed" by denouncing black lives matter? I see criticism of BLM all the time (well, not recently, but when BLM was around). In fact, many on the left (socialists/anarchists), believe the BLM movement to be deeply flawed.
Basically, I'm asking you, please give me some data that shows that people have suffered consequences for denouncing actual far left propaganda. I've yet to see anything like what you describe.
The same (racist) fallacies committed yet again. Consider how you're determining the number of violent crimes committed by race, as well as how different people are charged for the same offense depending on race.
Does Facebook have a sincere interest in stopping far-right propaganda? I can't imagine that they do, as extreme propaganda gets people's attention, and attention is what Facebook thrives on.
It's not facebook, the public discussion is just mirror of opinions previously discussed at the dinner table. People are still on the same spot but where they vent their world view but now have the power to blast it to anybody willing to listen. Food & games for the people etc.
