Ask HN: Business Plan

Hey all. I know business plans are somewhat frowned upon in starting a web start up. Usually a prototype and traction is better to have initially than a plan when trying to raise money.

With that said, do any hacker news entrepreneurs use business plans? If so, do you guys have any good basic templates that is simple and straight forward, not requiring a lengthy write up that (unless im wrong) seems somewhat unnecessary.
