Ask HN: Moving soon and like my job, is it worth asking to be remote?

I'm planning on moving in the next 3 to 4 months and like my current position (senior software eng), I've been with this company almost 3 years. Would it be wise to see about going remote? If so, any ideas on how to approach this subject?

I enjoy my job and it would suck to have to find a new job as a result of moving, despite being an in office company we do have 1 person who works remote and has for 5 years.
