I thought you were talking about Torvalds, then I realized you are talking about Microsoft.

Could have all the CoC and bad press on Torvalds been the start of a push to take Linux over? If I recall many of the people pushing for his punishment did work for large companies owned by or soon to be owned by Microsoft?

I don't see any substance at all in the article. Just conflating Microsoft's admission to the security mailing list with an unrelated heated exchange between Linus Torvalds and Dave Chinner.
This was written by a loon who has been obsessed with his own conspiracy theories about Microsoft and Open Source for years. He had a whole thing going about Novell way back when they bought Ximian and SuSE. That's more than 15 years of creepy, obsessive blogging.
Or it could just be that Microsoft has been shady for over 15 years.
