Ask HN: Is There a Google Chromecast Alternative?

It seems this protocol isn't opensource, so there will be no opensource projects which can act as a receiver for Chromecast.

Does Google plan to opensource it? Any other app which can make it possible to cast videos from Chromecast supported apps?
