Ask HN: Transitioning to coding after previous unrelated careers

1 points by thanatropism ↗ HN
There are periodic Ask HNs about careers in coding with no CS degree, but these tend to apply to people who skip college altogether and dive into coding as a first career.

I've been considering the possibility of applying to software development jobs. I have 10+ years of experience in another field, although much of it has been related to coding. Probably more importantly, I took a technical cofounder role at a startup where I had to take my existing, domain-centered skills to the next level.

I made a short Google Forms-based survey; it's just nine questions. It would mean a lot to me if you could take a minute to answer. Otherwise I'll be watching the thread for any eventual discussion.
