Ask HN: How to learn more about internationalization as a developer?

I recently changed teams at work to start working as a developer on the internationalization (i18n) team at my work. The team has some non-technical folks who deal with operations of translating and localizing day to day. But I'm inheriting a project whose devs left the company and now I am reading through the code to make sense of it but I am always playing catchup.

I'd like to find some resources to learn more about i18n best practices, industry standards, and popular/well-liked software that is built for i18n purposes. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
