I've always wondered about this, as I've gone back and forth on doodling and writing notes in a Moleskin hardcover art sketchbook and utilizing my iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and GoodNotes.
Lately, I've been doing a lot more of the latter, and am finding it really helpful for clarity of thought. For example, recently, I reached for prepping some slides for my team, but, instead, I sketched out my idea in three "hand-drawn slides", and these, it turned out, conveyed my ideas a lot better than my structured/crafted slides would have. But I also have countless "drawn/doodled" ideas now in my GoodNotes notebooks, and it seems to help crystalize my thinking for when it gets "translated" into prose, specs, or other artifacts.
