Show HN: Quarter Life Crisis Club – living abroad made easier for indie devs

Hey HN,

This is one of my side projects: https://www.quarterlifecrisisclub.com.

Every month I invite 5 entrepreneurial people to live together in a city across the world.

I quit my way too cushy dev job 9 months ago to live abroad and work on my own things.

My first stop was Bangkok and I wish so much that something like this had already existed. It would have saved me from countless evenings trying to network and from so many boring Saturday nights.

Eventually it all worked out for me but it shouldn’t have to be that hard.

The first trip is this November in Bangkok. You can email me if you have questions olivierxtruong@gmail.com.

“So many boring Saturday nights” ... in Bangkok? Sounds like doing it wrong. Bangkok has so many expats and digital nomads and co-working places and meetups that networking should not present a problem.

Doing any kind of work in Thailand on a tourist visa means breaking the law. Enforcement close to non-existent and lots of people work online there under the radar. But a program like this gives the immigration police an easy target.

I went to a bunch of meetups when I first started out. Some co-working places too. They aren't as fun as you think. That's why I could have used something like this.
I wouldn't go to meetups or co-working places for fun. I would go to meet people, or network as you put it. Lived in Bangkok for five years. Plenty of fun, and plenty of interesting and successful people to meet.
