Ask HN: What Has Been Your Experience “Rehosting” Mainframe Applications?

Also known as “pick up and drop”, there are a few companies that offer the ability to move the application code and data to a different platform (ie Linux) and do away with the mainframe entirely.

Does anyone here have experience with these products or types of projects?
