Unix v0 now running on real PDP-7 hardware
Living Computers has built the first new device for the PDP-7 in a number of years. It is a storage device called the JK09 which makes use of an existing IO controller in their PDP-7 serial number 129. They also wrote a new device driver for UNIX v0 to support this storage device and have forked the PDP-7 UNIX code on github (you can run their new device under simh). They decided to do this rather than track down an RC09/RB09 controller and disk as was used in the Bell Labs PDP-7 or to emulate that device.
A video of their first attempts at getting UNIX v0 to run on the PDP-7 is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5MKwp2uj2k&t=5s
