An equal number of people would be offended by this being injected onto their morning feed, probably more, than those that are offended by its rejection. Facebook is an algorithm after all.
Somehow, I bet you would say this is my problem, and that you have a right to exist, including in public where I might see you and your homophobic or perhaps merely insufferably prudish opinions.
> Some people would consider homosexuality obscene on what could be interpreted as a family or community product.
Anyone who would consider an image of a heterosexual couple kissing to be family friendly, but an image of a homosexual couple kissing to be obscene, is a bigot whose views should not be catered to.
Maybe you have not considered that to those who view race as sacred and who also view sexuality as sacred, your assertion of bigotry completely ignores the consistency by which they apply their beliefs.
To be against racism is to promote racial differences as purposeful and good. Even if those people of different races don't agree, or are themselves racist.
To be against the promotion of homosexuality is likewise not to be against homosexuals (even if they disagree) but is to promote the differences between sexes as purposeful and good and to promote heterosexual marriage.
We can't change the race we are, but our views of our race, and race in general, are going to vary right? Same with our sex, and our view of sex.
I simply wish to make the case that calling others bigots on the basis of consistent treatment of both race and sex as sacred, and not just race, while not being also a racist yourself... Reveals inconsistency.
Never mentioned gender, or disapproving anything. In fact, I provided details showing why some who is not racist would believe there are no "wrong" races. And if that person is consistent in applying the same approach to sex, there are no "wrong" sexes either.
Edit: I would also add that the disapproving must be "unreasonable" as this is part of the definition of bigotry. Merely holding a different view does not qualify one as bigot.
In my opinion, it involves a much deeper issue than the views of the individuals in those relationships. I would proprose there are limited ways to answer the question of "Who am I?" and "What is my purpose?".
1) We cannot know.
2) I decide for myself and my view is not influenced by any "other".
3) I am able to know and my view is influenced by an "other".
Obviously, how one answers those questions ultimately leads to the answer of your question. My personal belief is not at issue here. I was attempting to promote an openness of consideration of the views of others.
Our dilemma is discussing this topic is that we have the freedom to hold different systems of belief. This results in fundamental lacking of common ground which results in each of us appearing to be a bigot to the other. I would not propose anyone to have the spirit of bigot, but it appears some on the thread cannot entertain the possibility that others have a reasonable approach to how they view topics of personal belief, and the consistency is - at the very least - something not willing at the moment to be considered. Unfortunate.
It amazes me how no one challenges the logic. They just downvote.
This attitude pulls you lower than them. We are all humans, deserving of compassion, reguardless of wrongthink. Many if not most beliefs we hold are not truly rational.
Strawman fallacy. He didn't say anything about having pictures of heterosexual couples. Some people consider overt display of affection in public to be obscene in general.
Feels like Zuckerberg and co is pivoting from being politically 'left' to politically 'right' and I'm wondering if it has to do w/ data. I.e. data says if you support conservative media/causes/etc you'll get more mass appeal, and more eyes glued to facebook. Or more people who lean right-wing are on FB so make it an echo chamber for them. Supposedly he's been having a lot of closed door meetings w/ people on the right.
At once it seemed he wanted to be more like gates and influence the world for good. I think all the privacy scandals have made him more jaded and ruined chances of him getting into politics like he wanted, so buckle down and make FB more profitable through political coercion and using data to get the most advertising buck.
I mean they don't allow this, but Trump could run an ad saying Bernie Sanders is having an Affair with AOC and has poor family values and they'd allow it - because political ad.
