Ask HN: Is anyone else having problems with Amazon's Audible settlement?

I think that Amazon is making it intentionally difficult to redeem the free audiobook settlement that they were forced to give to users who they screwed out of Audible credits.

I clicked on the link, selected a book, and went to check out. Suddenly, upon checkout, I was informed my password was incorrect. My Amazon password is unique across all my websites and has not changed in literally 10 years. Then, all of a sudden, it is "incorrect" right the moment that I need to sign in and redeem my free settlement Audible book. Sure, whatever, I'll reset my password to something else.

The problem is, after resetting my password, when I go back to click on the link in my email, it says below the link: "You have previously clicked this link. Each redemption code may only be used once."

When I click on the button that says "Redeem your free title" it now says:

> "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" —A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens This promotional code has already been claimed. If you think we've made a mistake, please contact Customer Care. Please contact us for further support.

The fuck the redemption code has been claimed! I attempted to buy "The Daily Stoic" by Ryan Holiday and I have no record of any audio book being ordered or email sent from Amazon. This seems to me like classic obstruction. If this was something covered under GDPR I'm sure this would flow a lot more smoothly. But as it is a settlement I have a strong suspicion that it was deliberately made as difficult as possible for users to redeem the settlement.

Call me crazy, paranoid, whatever you'd like. Or let me know if you have had a similar experience. Either way I just wanted to get this off my chest as I think the incentives for Amazon to make this redemption process as difficult as possible line up with my experience and go way beyond a simple coincidence.
