"Socialism" might mean different things for different people.

I think the article confuses (when it talks about Sanders) a flatter distribution of income (a feature that I would attribute more to social democratic societies of Nordic countries) and a USSR-style planned economy. The latter failed miserably, but the former is actually something we might want to adapt here in the U.S.
