Ask HN: How do you fund side projects?

I have a number of side projects that I am working on and some cost hosting fees. I try to leverage "free" hosting on AWS, GCP, Heroku as much as possible to keep things cheap. I also used to do side work building sites for people to help finance projects.

I was curious if there were any tips to finance projects you are working on?
