Ask HN: Is a Component in React Just?

After watching this great talk by Mark Dalgleish about design systems (https://youtu.be/jnV1u67_yVg) and seeing various public design systems like Chakra UI using a <Stack> component, I was wondering if Stack is just syntactic sugar for a <Flex> component in the direction of a column?
