Ask HN: Can I be employed and bring my own clients in exchange for a visa?

I'm already doing this in Asia - I'm employed by a local company where I bring my own clients in exchange for a work permit and visa. They bill my clients and take a % which covers my tax, healthcare and their fee.

Are there any schemes that exist like this in English speaking countries that you know of? Google doesn't really show anything concrete...

I have a UK passport, no degree but 15+ years of experience and some certifications.
