Ask HN: Mindmapping app with folding, loops and multi-root

2 points by nnq ↗ HN
I'm looking for a mind mapping app, and ALL seem to miss the 3 very basic features that I want:

1. folding/collpasing eg. a simple +/- system (like Freemind has) to selectively show/hide subnodes of a node

2. "loop" or "arbitrary connections" between nodes - I'm want to build a MAP, not a TREE (apps like Scapple have this, but they lack most other useful features) - and I do understand that "folding sections of a graph" is not a "solvable" problem in the grand scheme of things, but simple heuristics/hacks can work fine and are of immense help

3. multiple equal importance "root nodes", or allowing multiple disconnected subgraphs on a map

Is there anything out there, free or paid, satisfying these requirements? I know products marketed as diagramming tools (Draw.io, Lucidchart etc.) seem to satisfy my needs better, but they all lack folding/collapsing.

Are not all/most peoples using mind map apps in desperate need of this very same features-combo?! ...or am I just the weird one here?
