So, getting feedback like this is super scary and I procrastinated for probably a week longer than I should have - but no more! FastComments is launched and ready to use.

I thought of the project while I was on vacation, and started coding I think around Dec 27th. I wanted to write about my month long stint abroad and was planning on creating a new blog for just that kind of content and decided I was going to embed comments into the blog. After doing some digging about Disqus I thought it was a good opportunity to build an alternative.

FastComments is a fast, privacy-focused embedded comment solution. This means you can create a little snippet that'll add a comment thread to any static page. Currently it weighs in at 6.6kb gzipped. Data migration is completely self service and you can seamlessly migrate from what I consider my top three competitors (Disqus, Muut, Commento). Commento is actually pretty nice and will be fun competing with it.

You can read about all the nerdy stuff here: https://blog.winricklabs.com/(1-24-2020)-how-fastcomments-was-built.html

Addressing the elephant in the room - the website design - a lot of designers have given me feedback already. The problem is I want the design to reflect the product/service: fast, simple, and to the point. So while I'm open to feedback - that's the goal! :)

I was employed during most of this time so this is a side project. I am between jobs this week so that helped a lot in getting it ready.

I'm winding down development a bit now and focusing on marketing while transitioning my development time to launching my next set of projects (watch.ly, and building a couple games).

Anyways I know the community here is really awesome and I know I'll get some good feedback. Thanks. ... and maybe I'll get around to writing that blog post I originally intended to write... :)
