Create my own artifical-intelligence pet, how should I start, help me out

Hey guys! I just had an idea, what if we can create an artifical pet just like Tamagotchi (https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamagotchi) but as a real life robot (that walks, makes sounds, "artificial poop", wants to "cuddle, etc). I know it might not be a novel idea but I would like to extend "Tamagotchi" idea into real life, project witch is basically creating a possibility to "feel" a Tamagotchi real senses like vision, sound, emotions, etc., lets take it to the next level. I have a lot of experience in RaspberryPi, ESP, ARM, etc. The things I would like to see it to learn are: * Get to know it's owner * Be happy it's owner is back home * Be "kind of sad" it's owner leaves the home * Be ready to "cuddle" session * Eat "artificial" food * Take care of physiological needs (like poop, etc.) * Have a physical interface like wheels or walking machine

I suppose, creating a moving interface like wheels or legs (like a spider) are not very technical advanced, but the "brain" part is the most import. What do you guys think? Can you help me where to start? I would love to take as more advice I can get. I can oblige to post progress of "learning" on my blog.

I have over 10 year of experience in programming in C, Node.js, Golang. I hope you guys like my idea and I would love to see what you think.
