Ask HN: Let go losing 1MM of unvested RSUs

I was laid off from a big tech co with standard severance. I will now lose a million dollars in unvested stock. This was supposed to be my lifeline.

It’s at-will unfortunately but this just doesn’t seem right. Should I attempt to renegotiate the severance to try to get some of this, or am I out of luck? Any other options?
