Ask HN: Usefulness of social network data for epidemic management?
So idle question for me since I don't have access to such data, but if one were sitting atop a pile of social network data, are there some useful predictions or even more active epidemic management information which could be produced?
Social connection graphs, with position data, workplaces or other gathering areas would seem to be ripe for analysis to to give an organization like the CDC better forward predictions of how a disease like COVID-19 might specifically spread. Could you use that information to get ahead of it by prepositioning resources, or using targeted notifications or quarantines?
How would you approach it?
