HELP. Service Rewrite Project Proposed

HELP. Our Staff Eng. proposed a company wide engineering efficiency initiative which vommitted itself onto my team as a gigantic 6 month microservicify, migration, deprecation, rewrite headscratcher.

As a frontline eng. the benefits are definitely minimal and worse - I'll probably get tapped to work on it and deliver 0 business value and get 0 personal value from the project.

How do I not waste 6 months of my life? Why does this stuff exist? Who benefits from this?
