Ask HN: How does your organization track feature utilization in its apps?
My organization spends millions annually on in-house software development (there is no off-the-shelf alternative and it makes sense to do so). However, we do not currently track metrics pertaining to which features/screens/etc. are actually utilized, versus those that are not. Needless to say, this makes it difficult to determine how effective requirements gathering was in the first place, let alone how much effort to expend on maintaining/upgrading various screens.
Does your org track utilization of screens/features? If so do you use custom logic, a paid tool (Flexera Usage Intelligence, etc.) or open source tooling (would love to hear more on this)?
