When Musk made the comment he was speaking of the disease itself, which is in fact not much more serious than the seasonal flu. And what he was not aware of was how hugely infectious covid-19 was and how badly that would impact hospital systems nationwide.
These are two very separate issues and at the time Musk commented very few people were aware of the distinction though most people are now.
Why we choose to adore tech celebrities always suprise me.
"He was not aware" makes me laugh. That information was out in the open and widely published when he didn't know.
Far more truthful and human would be to say he fucked up, but that might also entail the acknowledgement that he is only another human and not a diety.
Not more serious than the seasonal flu is the bullshit that continues to be spat around. 20% need hospitalization for Covid vs 1-2% for the flu. 11 days for Covid in that hospital vs 5-6 for the flu. 1-5% death rate vs .1%. The chances of getting lung scarring are tremendously higher. Also the rate of asymptomatic seems to be significantly higher. It’s more deadly and more contagious than the Spanish flu. Please stop this “it’s just like getting the flu!” Nonsense.
