Ask HN: Open-source E2E encrypted video conferencing tool

2 points by cryptoneed ↗ HN
Dear HN folks,

We are looking for an end-to-end encrypted video conferencing tool. Do you know of any? Currently we rely on our own meet.jit.si and Nextcloud Talk instances, but I would consider WebRTC to not be end-to-end encrypted, relying on DTLS and SRTP -> TLS and shared keys. When searching and researching online, only proprietary solutions pop up or 1-1 video chat tools, which support end-to-end encryption like e.g. Signal.

I understand that end-to-end encryption introduces quite some overhead for a data hungry and latency dependent systems like video conferencing, but we would happily accept the suffering of the video quality in exchange of more security.

Looking forward to your input!
