Ask HN: Quarampetition

Excuse the poor name (still thinking of something catchy). I have almost no spare time even while quarantined to build or think through a fun social media-esque tool that I think would go absolutely viral if built (or an already existing tool used) effectively for this purpose.

I’ve seen lots of mini fitness challenges on social media during the last month of quarantine like “get 10 give 10” pertaining to sit ups, push ups, or other activities. Imagine a platform where you could request, schedule, vote for, etc. mini virtual competitions between celebrities, personalities, athletes, etc. and be able to, in real time watch two big names (rivals or otherwise) having a fun little competition. All while letting others enjoy, be inspired, or join along while it’s happening.

Again, I have no time or will to think through what this would look like, but figured putting this here for other smart folks on HN to let the juices flow or shoot it down would be interesting. Some amazing virtual “competitions” I envision:

Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair

Brett Favre vs Troy Aikman

Sundar Pichai vs Mark Zuckerburg

Kanye West vs Taylor Swift

Rinaldo vs Messi

I mean, the possibilities are endless, no?
