For ignorant people who lump "asia" into one sure, that's bad. However, let's see, this came from Japan, no, they are well regulated. Taiwan, SK., no. Where did it come from again?? Asking for a friend...
It seems obvious why this happens when the disease originates in CN. Especially in the case of COVID where there were "bat soup" stories. If the black plague started back up in the states, folks would be blaming the US, no?
How much of this is just population though? I'm admittedly not super knowledgeable here.
"Some media outlets, including Daily Mail and RT, promoted a video that showed a young Chinese woman eating a bat and suggested it was shot in Wuhan, but later it was confirmed that the footage was filmed by travel vlogger Wang Mengyun in the island country of Palau in 2016, to showcase local cuisine"
This has pissed me off as well. For a while I've somewhat liked listening to Sam Harris but his rant on banning wet markets because they're barbaric came across as hyper racist. The LA times has another perspective
If you're going to claim no one should be able to produce or buy food in a way that might produce disease then maybe point a finger at the USA chicken and pork farms.
To call out China as "special" seems hypocritical the say the least. Just because they eat something different. Koreans find the French to be barbaric because they eat cute little bunny rabbits. The point being don't be xenophobic because we eat something different than you.
Chinese is not a race, it's a nationality. No one is being racist. Viruses are often named after the countries in which they originated. This is nothing new.

This is untrue. The author is lazily beating his well-worn anti-American drum.
