Not so secret Startups that get funded and fail to pay their contractors

Lets just get this out there, judgements are basically worthless. They're nearly impossible to enforce, they're easy to get around and they are primarily a cost for the person who is already out a paycheck.

What are some of your horror stories about companies that have failed to pay?

I'll go first: I've had a engineering group stiff me $750 and my code is still in production now.

I've had a consultant pay half invoices on time, then stiff me and the client $20,000+ and disappear. Shady dude.

I've had a customer pay all invoices, the final $600 is still unpaid since August 2019. They were funded 3 days after the final invoice was sent. They are currently in talks for a 1 million seed round.

3 projects, 3 products i've written and participated in that failed to pay their bills.

Who's next?
