Workflows for Highly Distributed Companies

Are you aware of program management or project management methods for distributed organizations? I am designing workflows for a highly dispersed company where everybody is WFH, languages are split between English and Chinese, and time zones have high variance.

Real-time meetings should be avoided in a distributed company, that is obvious. But what do you replace them with?
